Gürsoy Dogtas More Arrow
Gürsoy Dogtas is a fine artist, freelance curator, and author, and since 2006 editor of the artzine Matt Magazine. The discursive themes of the magazine’s issues are expanded by forms such as presentations, exhibitions, or symposiums at, for example, the Kunstverein Munich (2011), the BAS, Istanbul (2010), the Jan van Eyck Academie, Maastricht (2009), the Basso Berlin (2008), or Les Complices, Zurich (2007). Gürsoy Dogtas was a member of the board of the kunstraum muenchen, where he organized an alternative academy, Formen informellen Forschens (Forms of Informal Research), in 2011 and prepared the first solo exhibition of the Palestinian-Jordanian artist Oraib Toukan in 2012. He has participated in numerous exhibitions as an exhibiting artist (e.g., Bild Macht Wissen, Galerie 5020, Salzburg, 2008), curator (e.g., Interieur, Galerie Sabine Knust, Munich, 2011), or assistant curator (e.g., to Roger M. Buergel for the Ai Weiwei show Barely something, DKM, Duisburg, 2010). In the postgraduate program Assemblies and Participation: Urban Publics and Performance at HafenCity University Hamburg, Gürsoy Dogtas conducts research on “The Curatorial as a Practice and Method of Transgressing the Boundaries between Ethics, Aesthetics, and Politics.
