Stephane Ackermann worked with a number of prominent galleries and institutions in Europe, among them the Musée d’Art Contemporain de la Ville de Paris, before becoming an art advisor for major private collections as well as an agent for artists and designers. After encountering the Istanbul art scene in the early 1990’s, he has since been engaged in various projects including art advisor, curator, and artistic director of art fairs. In 2013, Ackermann became the artistic director of Art International in Istanbul.
Basak Senova (* 1970) studied Literature and Graphic Design (MFA in Graphic Design & PHD in Art, Design and Architecture at Bilkent University) and attended the 7th Curatorial Training Programme of Stichting De Appel, Amsterdam. She has been writing on art, technology, and media, initiating and developing projects and curating exhibitions since 1995. Senova was the curator of the pavilion of Turkey at the 53rd Venice Biennial. As an assistant professor, she has lectured at various universities in Istanbul such as Kadir Has University, Bilgi University, and Koç University. She co-curated the project “UNCOVERED“ (Cyprus) and the 2nd Biennial of Contemporary Art D-0 Ark Underground in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Senova is a member of the advisory boards of the Istanbul Biennial and D-0 Ark Underground Biennial, and a member of the advisory committee of Protocinema. She is the curator of the Helsinki Photography Biennial 2014, the Jerusalem Show VII, and the Art Gallery Chair of SIGGRAPH 2014 (ACM), Vancouver.
