* 1962 in Suceava, Romania, lives and works in Berlin Marius Babias is a curator and arts theorist. Since 2008 he has been director of Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n. b. k.). In 2005 he was commissioner of the Romanian Pavilion at the 51st Venice Biennale. From 2001–2003 he was artistic codirector at Kokerei Zollverein, Zeitgenössische Kunst und Kritik in Essen. Between 1997–2001 Babias was visiting professor at the Städelschule Frankfurt/Main and at the Center for Contemporary Art Kitakyushu, Japan. In 1996 he won the Carl Einstein Prize for Art Criticism.
