Dr. Lóránd Hegyi (1954 born in Budapest, Hungary) is one of the foremost European curators and art historians. From 1990-2001 he was director of the Museum of Modern Art Foundation Ludwig Vienna and was artistic adviser and later artistic director of the „Palazzo delle Arti Napoli“, PAN in Neaple (2002-2006) and the „Musée d'Art Moderne de Saint-Étienne Métropole“ (2003-2016). Hegyi was co-curator of the Venice Biennial in 1993, artistic director of the Sculpture Triennial of Stuttgart in 1995 and curator of the Valencia Biennial in 2003. Beside his curatorial activity he wrote numerous books and articles about contemporary art and cultural criticism, social and political context of artistic praxis in Central and East Europe as well as about the center and periphery discours.
